Labor Rates

Basic Labor

I charge $20 an hour for simple hardware replacement, software and operating system errors or hardware conflicts. If, after assessing your system in the first half-hour, I find that spyware and viruses have caused irreversible damage I will contact you and we will make a new game plan on how to proceed with repairing your system in the most economical way.

Printers

Printers are not my favorite computer components. Most of the time the reason for printer problems is that the customer did not uninstall previously installed printers, which can cause errors and conflicts with the new printer software. Try uninstalling before you give me a call to fix your printer. I have discovered over the years that printers have minds and personalities of their own and I also believe that you get what you pay for most of the time. I'm convinced that some printers have memory chips built into them to count the amount pages you print and die after it reaches the limit programmed into the chip! It makes no sense to purchase a printer that costs less than the replacement ink cartridges; try to buy the best printer your budget can afford.

I do limited work on printers and I will troubleshoot printer hardware and software problems.

Software

I install new software and reinstall existing software.  Software like QuickBooks can only be installed if you have current working installation software and backups of your accounts in a backup format from a readable source.  Usernames, Passwords and activation key codes may be needed to restore accounts and are necessary to access accounts and activate software.

Basic Reload

I charge $80 to reload your original operating system onto a new hard drive. I will reload onto your original hard drive as long as I am able to just reformat without saving data or information on the original hard drive. I will install the all the drivers needed for the sound, network, video and other hardware in your system.  I will install all the basic Software needed to burn CDs and DVDs, Adobe Acrobat Reader, Power DVD and AVG virus software.

With a Basic Reload I will copy your data from your old hard drive from the main identity folder.  You might have more than one person that uses the computer, and there is a $10 charge for each additional identity transfer setup.

Refurbishing Your Computer

I charge $100 to refurbish your existing computer by replacing the needed parts and transferring data from the old hard drive to the new hard drive limited to the Main profile identity. There is a $10 charge for each additional identity transfer setup.

On-Site Repair

I do on-site repair at your house or business. It is more cost-effective to bring your computer to me because I have more resources, parts and extremely fast Internet access at my location, which makes doing downloads and service pack updates much faster.

I charge a $10 pickup and drop-off fee in the Baker City area.

 I charge $.42 a mile outside a 5-mile radius
 Baker City for on-site repair.
